Hey everyone, G3 has been tasked with preparing a concept for the next campaign, once we complete this phase of Op Cromwell.
We're going to compile a list of ideas, flesh these out a bit, and then pick one to begin developing.

If you've got any ideas about what you'd like to see, please throw them out in this thread. All sorts of ideas/requests are welcome here.
For example:
  • "I want to do more desert stuff, but with vehicles"

  • "I'd like more civilian interaction, so like, actual intelligence gathering and diplomacy type stuff"
  • "I want to do something in the European theatre, like peacekeeping or aid delivery"

  • "Can we have more light role, sneaky-beaky patrols?"
  • "Here's a link to a documentary I'd like to see used as inspiration: [Some link]"

Or if you've got a more developed idea of a campaign you'd like to be considered, we'll take this on board as a possibility as well, please flesh out the details in a post below!

Elaborate a bit more... Are we ambushing or us getting ambushed? against Taliban, IRA or Boko Haram? In what map?

Above comments notwithstanding, I have actually made a note about trying to put Convoy Ambushes (both giving and receiving) into a future campaign, and this would hopefully be something that fits into the overall theme and tempo of whatever we choose to do for the next campaign.

Langdon's larger suggestion number 1:

[Redacted for Operational Security reasons]

Training Requirements during home rotation: Convoy Procedures, how to prepare an ambush, reaction to ambush, duties of a sentry.

Langdon's larger suggestion #2:

Working Title: "Cocaine"

Location: Jungles of Belize. (but on the Cambodia map as requested)

The operational context: Following a United Democratic Party landslide in Belize's recent elections, the UK has been forced to renegotiate the Status of Forces Agreement which allows us to carry out our jungle warfare training here. Fearful of losing a key capability, and risking a loss of influence in the region, the UK Foreign Commonwealth Office agreed to a new set of conditions for UK forces in Belize. In exchange for continued presence and support from the country's government, the UK would provide Air Power and Light Role Reconnaissance "Mentoring" support in the country's ongoing conflict with drug traffickers and farmers spreading from Mexico. Officially, UK Forces would only be training with Belize's armed forces and police, however in practice the MOD forbids embedding of UK personnel with Belize's police and army, citing security concerns and rampant corruption. To reach a compromise, each battalion training there will furnish a detached "light role" company for these ongoing operations. 2 Scots are deployed for an extended 3 month training cycle, and A Company have been chosen to be the "light-role" element to be deployed.

Nature of the Campaign: Our platoon will be operating independently, on extended foot patrols, attempting to locate and disrupt narcotics activities throughout the jungle. We'll have access to vehicles, but the majority of our actual work will take place on foot. We will be putting jungle-warfare training to good use, living on the move, with helicopter supply drops used to sustain us as we move. We will use satellite imagery and gathered intelligence to try and locate plantations and distribution networks, clearing and denying these as we go. At the end of each Saturday operation, the troops and their commanders can set the agenda for next week's operation, choosing a destination, an objective, and a route (as well as requesting any resupplies needed) which will then be turned into a mission for the next week. The intent is to have a persistent "fieldcraft" experience where the commanders get to make more meaningful decisions. The fighting will typically be small, running skirmishes, where the enemy will mostly try to withdraw and preserve their equipment, although again we can vary this up depending on how people are enjoying it. There may be some ambushes, but my intention with this would be for these to be small ambushes laid on by sentries around plantations, and not large scale platoon-threatening affairs. Ammo, food and water resupplies would be a key concern for commanders.

Mod/Addon Requirements: No requirements besides current modpack, but a "Daisy-Cutter" weapon or bomb would be useful to destroy trees. If no such thing exists, this can be achieved through scripting. Syndikat would be used as enemies most likely.
Scripting Requirements: AI-piloted helicopter resupplies (already built for fireteam challenge map), sentry-following behaviour (so enemy sentries will follow our footsteps and try to attack from behind), script to measure how much ammo/water/food is left at the end of a mission. Definite Need: AI-piloted MEDEVAC choppers, with custom landing zones, for example trying to land on smoke? Lastly, a believable way to "destroy" narcotics fields.

Training Requirements (during Home Rotation): Basic jungle warfare/Nav, reaction to ambush, how to prepare an ambush. For commander's: Condensed 7-questions planning cycle?

I’d like to suggest that we have an inter-unit fight. Some take the role of the 51st and some take on the enemy (instead of relying on AI). The routine patrols are to be intercepted or ambushed and... we’ll see what happens.

They're dodgy to setup for MDT side of things to all work out; sure G3 will find a way though!

SUGGESTION A,

Operation Flashpoint (TVT, Adversarial): The cold war has finally turned hot! The Eastern Bloc against its enemies to the west. North Atlantic Treaty Organization (United States Army, United States Marine Corps, British Army) versus the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (Southern Military District, PVO and VDV). Two teams of twelve face off against one another for control over Bystrica, Czech Republic. Based around a team-versus-team Adversarial scenario.

Mission can be for the whole of the area, or simple town death matches, up to G3 Operations staff and the Mission Development team. Because of the fact this is conventional warfare, they can also opt to add in more slots to allow for more than two teams of twelve for this scenario.

TL;DR - Cold War turns hot, russia and nato faces off. Conventional warfare; helis, tanks, jets.

SUGGESTION B,

Operation Royal Flush (TVT/PVE, Both): As part of their coup, the ChDKZ have invaded the island of Utes which is home to a chernarussian military training base. Overwhelmed, the remaining chernarussian military forces in the area regroup at the village of strelka in an attempt to fight off their attackers. Ultimately, the chernarus forces on the island were overwhelmed by the sheer tenaciousness of the ChDKZ attack. As a result of this, A United States Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) was sent to the region and told to launch an amphibious assault on the island of Utes to liberate the island and its inhabitants of the ChDKZ.

Two teams of twelve face off against one another for control over Utes, Czech Republic.
Can swap out the LHD and Marines for HMS and Royal Marine Commandos. Feel free to also develop this for operations against AI, predominantly a team-versus-team mission however.

TL;DR - ChDKZ overthrows government, invades island. Marines or RM Commandos intervene.

SUGGESTION C

Operation Barracuda (TVT/PVE, Both): Set during the vietnam war, the 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, the newly arrived 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division and 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry are to conduct search and destroy operations against the People's Army of Vietnam in the region. Based around Vietnam therefore counter-insurgency operations are in effect. US Forces need to find, locate and destroy them, NVA need to disrupt US operations.

Two teams of eight face off against one another in the jungles of Vietnam, Again feel free to also develop this for operations against AI, predominantly a team-versus-team mission however.
This will require a 2nd modpack to be created either on the workshop, file hosting or the repo.

TL;DR - It’s vietnam baby; jungles, flame flowers and great music. Find the enemy. Kill them.
